The 12 Nights of Winter
A RITUAL OF GESTATION, GUIDANCE AND BECOMING
Winter Solstice December 21th - January 6th
This Season’s Invitation
WHEN THE SUN STANDS STILL
At the turning of the year, the Sun pauses, and for a few quiet nights, the world sinks into the pause between breaths.
This is a cosmological still point, not just another date on a calendar.
Between the Winter Solstice and Perihelion, when Earth draws closest to the Sun, the “fertile void” opens in the northern hemisphere.
The Light turns inward, and time seems to dissolve.
In the dark soil of your being, the next cycle of your life begins to stir. ✨
The Spiritual Gestation of the Year Ahead
For millennia, mystics and wise ones have known: the Twelve Nights after the Solstice are not ordinary nights. They are the gestational chamber of the coming year.
Our earth-honoring, wise ancestors called them holy nights — twelve thresholds through which the light of the Soul Sun streams into matter.
In this brief window, the animating consciousness of the Sun transmits to the Earth, and to each of us, the light that awakens our soul seeds.
These seeds, resting deep in the belly’s hearth, hold the blueprint of our becoming. For most, this awakening happens unconsciously, and the year unfolds as fate. But for those who stay attuned, the thresholders, the midwives of light, this time becomes an act of conscious creation.
Through stillness, smoke, and prayer, they help the world remember how to be born again.
Becoming a Thresholder
To become a Thresholder is to remember that the world is always being dreamed into form - through us, and through the dark.
Did Your Ancestors Set New Year’s Goals?
The Twelve Nights are not for striving or setting goals, like the “over-culture” insists we do at the start of each new year.
Instead, these Twelve Nights of Winter are for deep listening.
This is the season when the Soul’s seeds stir beneath the frost, when new life begins to whisper in the dark.
This immersion is for those who feel the call to keep vigil, step outside the noise of the world,
and return to the rhythm of the cosmos.
Each of the Twelve Nights corresponds to one lunar month of the coming year. Each night, a single seed is touched by light; each dream begins its slow spiral toward form.
When we attend to what arises in our dreams and in the quiet between moments, we begin to walk the year ahead in both directions:
Honoring what is germinating in the dark and tending what will one day bloom in the light.
Right Times.
Sacred Wisdom.

Sacred Space-making
December 14th - the 3rd Advent
As the world tilts further into darkness, you’ll receive a gentle guide to prepare your hearth-space, a vessel to hold the light of the season.
Through a simple email transmission, I’ll walk you through creating your altar: the herbs to clear the air, the symbols to anchor your intention, and the small ritual tools that root this ancient practice in daily life.
This is how we begin: by shaping a place where stillness can gather, and where the soul can start to listen.

Live Ritual Guidance
December 21st
On the longest night, we meet live via Zoom to pause and welcome the dark. In this session, I’ll share a Solstice Story drawn from ancestral memory; a tale of descent and rekindling, a reminder that light is not lost, only hidden in the folds of night.
Together we’ll honor the stillpoint, kindle our candles, and set the tone for the twelve sacred nights to come.
This gathering is both ceremony and orientation: a way to enter the threshold consciously, with reverence and calm.

The Twelve Nights Immersion
December 24- January 6
For twelve nights, you’ll receive a daily transmission - a guided meditation, a dream prompt, and a small act of devotion to weave your days with the rhythm of the cosmos.
Each night becomes an oracle, each dream a seed, each dawn a whisper of the year to come.
Through ancestral wisdom and embodied practice, you’ll learn to hear what your body and dreams are already revealing, and to move with, rather than against, the current of becoming.
-

Manifestation Day
January 6th
As the sun begins its slow climb and the light lengthens once more,
we gather again for a closing ceremony: a collective blessing for your home, health, and livelihood in the year ahead.Together we seal the circle and anchor what has been received.
You’ll leave with your completed Twelve Nights Calendar: a moon-by-moon map of vibrational guidance for the coming year, and a body more attuned to the pulse of the living world.
Your Guide
I’m Ro Marlen, a threshold walker and wisdom teacher rooted in the European Wise Woman tradition. Since 1997, I’ve been guiding sensitive, spiritually attuned people back into the rhythms of body, land, and ancestors - drawing on decades of study with earth-honoring healers, mystics, and traditions across the globe.
But long before the trainings and teachings, my life was shaped by conversation with the unseen - by a lifetime of walking and speaking with the dead, with the spirits of place, and with the beings of land that still exist and need our tending.
My work comes from lived experience: spontaneous healing, radical awakening, sacred illness, and the long return to ground.
I am here for those who feel too much, who live at the edge, and who know they are called to another way of being.
The Twelve Nights of Winter is one of the oldest rituals I keep. It is a living bridge between the cosmos and the nervous system, the mythic and the mundane.
What People Are Saying About The 12 Nights of Winter
"For the past five years I have been following the 12 Nights of Winter program by Ro and I love ‘doing’ them. As I make my winter interior voyage, Ro’s voice and writings bring me peace, fill me up with magic, and help me feel where I should put extra attention. I feel grounded and in connection with my own body and the earth when listening to or reading these messages per sign and the daily process calms me down, helps me focus better on my day afterward, and helps me understand so much more about these signs and cycles of the year ahead. Each December I share this practice with the friends I feel who would be touched by it and I can’t wait to receive the new one soon!"
— Tamar Baruch , Paris, France
“When I first came across Ro Marlen’s work, I didn’t really know how to enter the world of living in tune with the seasons. Twelve Nights of Winter felt like a gentle place to begin.
I joined for the first time in 2023, and I remember how daunting it felt to add something new to my plate during the busiest, most depleted part of the year. Deep winter is, as a mom of two kids, when I usually run on fumes and have a million things to do, and the idea of committing to twelve nights brought up a lot of anxiety… but I signed up anyway.
Now it’s my third time—2025—and the difference in my life is honestly impressive. After doing Twelve Nights and several of Ro’s other seasonal offerings, my entire relationship with winter has changed. My December is spacious in a way it never was before. I’m calmer. I’m slower. I’m not trying to power through the dark months anymore. Instead, I’m letting them support me. (Work in progress!)
This year, I feel grounded, excited, and genuinely nourished as I come to the time of this ritual. It has become a cherished part of my seasonal practices, something I now look forward to instead of worry about.
Ro, thank you for bringing this practice back into our lives. I’m so grateful for the steadiness and magic it’s created in mine.
And if you’re thinking of joining but feel worried it might be “too much,” please know: you can do it in whatever way works for you, just like I did. You can return to it year after year, deepening at your own pace.
I highly, highly recommend it!”
— Karna Liv Nau, New Hampshire, USA
"For Christmas last year a friend gifted me a sketch pad and a set of pastels and shared Ro’s 12 Nights practice with me. My understanding of the Zodiac is minimal but I love how this dark time of year is so potent for reflection and was intrigued to add a little art-making play to the season of deep inward listening. What has blown me away is how "right on" the sketches that came out of the 12 Nights practice have proved to be! Each month this year I've been in awe of how perfectly what showed up on the paper illustrated what unfolded in my life during that Zodiac sign in 2019. From personal learning journeys to career clarity to discovering my partner--it's all there in pastel strokes. I'm so curious to see what shows up as I embark on Ro's 12 Nights this year!"

An Invitation to Remember the Simple Power of Gestation.
Our culture moves too fast for the soul’s timing. It drags us from one year into the next without pause, integration, or reverence.
But nature doesn’t rush her seasons. She knows that creation requires gestation - that even light must root itself in darkness before it can rise.
✨ These Twelve Nights are an invitation to remember that truth, rebuild your capacity for stillness, and reenter the rhythm that sustains life itself. ✨
They are a time to allow the deeper intelligence of the cosmos to reweave you into belonging.
